Change of Heart

Last week I insisted Tanner take a ski day and ditch work! He hasn't been up much this year and I love to here him come home raving about how much fun it was and how great a day it was. He needed it. He was teasing me that I haven't held up my end of the bargain ( I promised I would go with him at least once a year when we got married) and I felt really bad. I pretty much always feel bad about it but not bad enough to brave the miserable cold and actually go! Well, I don't know what came over me......pride...stubburnness....I like to think pure selfless love.....but I offered to get work off last Friday so that we could go together on Saturday.

I don't think Tan really believed it but went along. I ended up being able to trade a shift, find a sitter for Maci and borrow ski gear from my cute sister-in-law so we could go. Not excited about the prospect of freezing in this ridiculous late winter garbage I tried to find an out. No go. It was really snowy and rainy Friday night and I was wimping out big time. Tan went to extensive lengths to make sure I would be warm.....he made me try on 3 different boots, several head socks and snow pants to make sure. Even when we stopped at Alpine for tickets he tried to talk me into "better" gear..... he is really funny about it.

We made it to Snowbasin in time for the lifts to open and my skiing amnesia set in....before the first run I had to ask Tan to remind me what I was supposed to do. After taking several nasty falls on the first two runs I regained my memory of how to ski and had a great instructor that helped me fix my form ;) By the third run I was feeling great, LOVING the gondola and actually enjoying this so-called sport skiing. I took a ton of falls and mysteriously scratched and dented the top of my father-in-laws helmet which was on my head, but I kept up with Tan and think I even laughed a bit.

Unfortunately, our day ended a little short when I got called into work at 2pm but Tan was a good sport and took great care of me. Thanks for the awesome day Babe! Perhaps I'll try this again.....next year!

I don't love it but I don't think I hate it anymore;)

Thank goodness for helmets...

Very fun trip- I have mixed feelings about skiing as well. But- a day sans children? Sign me up!

good for you! I am very impressed that you would do that for tanner. For some reason I would do stuff like that all the time when we were dating and engaged and then once I got that wedding ring on, the false advertising was over. and no more hikes, bike rides, being adventurous and fun, etc.. ; ) so seriously good job.

Looks like fun! I'm sad we couldn't join you. Next time, I mean ... next year! :)
