To D.C. and Back Again

Ragnar Relay Washington D.C. was last weekend... so My Mom, Sister Cara, Maci and I decided to make a vacation of it. My Unlce Ren and most of his Kids live in the D.C. area so we had lots of good times with Cousins and 2nd cousins once removed ;)

They plane ride out there wasn't too bad... we were able to use a couple extra seats. Maci loved it and did pretty well for the most part thanks to children's Benadryl (no judgments please). We all got together at Chuck E Cheese's so the kids could play.... Yes that is my 20 year old cousin on the Horse.... He is a CHAMP!

Maci wasn't so sure about the "rides" at first but I couldn't get her off them once she realized it was fun.
Afterwards we got to meet the Newest member of the family.. Davis Alder. He is a doll, and Meagan was so sweet to let us barge in her home. Maci and Cambria terrorized their house for about a half an hour while we got to chat..... yes that is a 'butt donut' Maci has on her head.

The next day we drove out to Lancaster County which is where The Amish Folk live. It was awesome! So cool to learn a little bit about another culture and totally simple way of life. In summary, good pretzels, great Kettle Korn, nice people, smelly animals. All in all a great time!

Saturday morning we took the metro downtown to see the finish line and support Tan. It was awesome! It was the largest first year race yet with 115 teams! I am so proud of Tanner, He works so hard.... way to go Ragnar crew! Another successful race under your belts!

After we hung out at the finish line for a while and ate a bunch of free Bear Naked Granola (SOOOO Good!)..... we ventured off to the National Mall. Not long after we arrived did it start pouring rain....no drizzling.... pouring sheets of rain. We made it through part of the Air and Space Museum and through the Art Museum before giving up and walking with two babies through the rain with no umbrellas.... what are you gonna do. It was actually pretty fun after I got over the initial orneriness.

You can't see the picture very well but yes, it is actually raining. Maci and I had a good time singing in the rain.

Sunday we got to spend most of the day with all my family and it was so fun to catch up! The picture to the right summarizes our plane ride home..... including the blurriness.

Thank you so much Uncle Ren, Aunt Sue, Corrinne & Clint, Erin & Tom, Jo, Lo, Chris and all freakin' cutecakes for your time, generosity and love! We had a blast and are so blessed to have you all .... Aunt Sue, our prayers and thoughts are with you as you recover.... may you do so quickly so that we can hit up Cafe Rio soon. We love you guys!

Lancaster is a trip. We live a couple hours from there and have visited as well. Glad to see that Tan is doing well with these races.
