The Great Escape......to Park City

I gave up my husband involuntarily for the entire month of June on behalf of The Wasatch Back, so after it was over he suggested we get away for a few days together.......yeah, he's learning :)We packed up and ran away to Park City for a few days. On the way we stopped and took the Girls to Discovery Gateway. It is pretty much the new Utah Children's Museum which was one of my very favorite places to go as a kid. We've never taken Maci so we thought we'd check it out and see how she liked it......
True to form she went straight for the place house kitchen and probably could have stayed in there all day. I swear I didn't make her pose with that vacuum, she apparently has picked up on my habits on her own.

When we forced her to move on to the grocery store she threw a fit for a second.....Until she saw a basket of eggs. Eggs? What 2 yr prefers to play with eggs? Just moving them from basket to basket? I'd ask if I should be concerned, but I am way past that point.

Leila was dying to get out of her stroller, but it isn't so much a Baby Leila friendly environment :)

We finally made it up to the resort late wednesday night and got off to an early start Thursday... thankfully no one else in their right minds would go swimming at 9 a.m., so we had the whole pool to ourselves! It was a blast! Maci finally started to get a little bit brave and stuck her entire head under water. Big deal you say?!?! Have you met my Schwimp? We're afraid of the sprinklers people! This is huge progress!

Leila was pleasantly indifferent. She did get a kick out of Daddy throwing Maci in the air though....lots of giggles.

Woops......more Discovery Gateway pics. That's going to drive me crazy.

It took me about 5 minutes to talk Maci into getting on that horse with me.....and about 5 seconds until she wanted off.

Showing my girls around my future place of employment :)

It's going to happen people. Mark my words. I think Tanner was hoping I'd have gotten over it and moved on. Nope. I was made to be a flight nurse. (however, this is a seriously unflattering picture of me and I hope that holds no bearing on a job application)

You were a hit Discovery Gateway....we'll be back. Next time with the coupons I've been saving forever :)

Back to our aquatic adventure......

Of course I forgot the swimming diapers and so I couldn't help but crack up every time Maci got out of the pool and waddled around with a HUGE booty. My bad.

Check it out.....

We had a slight mishap involving Tanner's butter-fingers, Leila's head and the first step of the spa. Put it together and my sweet Pippy ended up with a major goose egg on her forehead.

The picture doesn't do it justice ;( She is a trooper and either quick to forget or quick to forgive.

She was zonked by the time we showered and headed back out the door for lunch.....looks comfy eh?

Maci surprisingly enjoyed the gondola ride up to lunch.....and she also made sure that we saw every single tree along the way.

It was gorgeous up there! We ate at the Red Pine Restaurant/cafe and it was delish! Tan and I had paninis and Maci and Leila dined on some gourmet chicken nuggets :)

Maci finished as quickly as she could so she could do this......go and read her princess book on a rock.

Tan wanted in on the princess fun of course and Maci kindly allowed him to share her throne.

We snuck in a nap and then took turns running.....I use the term loosely since I was still barely able to walk after running down Avon pass. We'll just say it was a beautiful 'shuffle' along some mountain trails. I treated Tanner to sushi that night after which we stopped by Wal Mart to snag some floaty toys. We spent the entire next morning in the pool again :) Maci insisted that she pull "yay-yah boo" around the pool, so Tanner pulled Maci and formed the most valuable pool train I've ever seen! Leila loved it!

It was so much fun to watch the girls play with their Daddy. Reminded me so much of me. We would wake up at the crack of dawn and make our Dad take us down to the pool whenever we traveled. Maci really seemed to love it....there is just something about water and kids. Instant smiles.
On Friday we had to head back down to SLC since I had to work and Tan had to be to Boot Camp. We found a sitter for the girls and later that evening Tan picked me up from work and we got to go to dinner. Alone. Together! It was much needed and great just to be together. I love that Man! Nobody makes me smile like he can :)
Tan and I woke up early Saturday morning and drove to the bottom of East Canyon where we left our car and rode home on our bikes. Climbed the canyon over to Emigration and down into the Salt lake Valley. It was awesome. I LOVE cycling. There is something so freeing that takes me back to my childhood when we rode our bikes everywhere. Wind in your face, burn in your legs....it is exciting. I have loved that it is something we can do together and we are pretty equal at it. I bet he could waste me but for some reason he doesn't. It's a challenge and a workout yet so much fun! It helps that time passes so quickly. Anyway, we made the 40ish mile ride home in a few hours.
It was a great weekend. Thanks for the break Baby Love. I guess I can stop whining about being a single parent now ;) I love you! I am so proud of you and all of your efforts. You are a fantastic Dabby and pretty dang good Hubsband.
